BANTING: The high tide phenomenon has brought a windfall to residents in the vicinity of Pantai Kelanang here, with the appearance of bamboo shells (siput pepahat) since last Sunday where many of the shells were found buried in the sand around the beach.

The residents could get a good income for selling it between RM10 and RM18 per kilo.

Apart from selling them to local residents, there was also a high demand for the shells by seafood restaurants and other eateries within Kuala Langat.

The high tide phenomenon in Selangor has also caused floods in Klang, Kuala Selangor and Sabak Bernam.
