PETALING JAYA: Common sense should be applied if there are differing interpretations of the law, says social activist Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye (pic).
Speaking about the recent High Court ruling on the automatic granting of citizenship to children born overseas to Malaysian mothers and foreign fathers, Lee said that differing interpretations of the law by the courts would leave people confused.
"It’s probably best if we apply the common sense approach. Among the factors that define the common sense approach is compassion. It’s always better to err on the right side of compassion," added Lee in a statement on Sunday (Sept 19).
