Kuala Lumpur 5 December – The Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) rejected any concerns that the upgrading of the Kuala Lumpur (KL) Sports City Bukit Jalil faces delays, insisting, the main venue of the 2017 Games it will be completed in July next year, a month before the biennial began.
OCM honorary secretary Datuk Low Beng Choo said the upgrade process and develop the Bukit Jalil Sports Complex which will be known as KL Sports City was run according to the agreed schedule of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) and contractors, developers.
However, he said, it was with the Secretariat of the 29th SEA Games and the ASEAN-9 (SOC) still have a plan B in the event of unforeseen circumstances.
“All the venues will be completed on schedule. We believe KL Sports City to be completed in July.
“All parties are aware that this project is a national agenda, so we are sure everything goes according to the schedule that has been agreed upon.
“As organizers, of course we need to have a plan B for everything, not only the venue but the logistics, accommodation and every aspect related but we will not disclose the plan to avoid any speculation,” he said after a meeting of team managers the 2017 SEA Games in Wisma OCM here today.
KL Sports City development project first phase is progressing on schedule and is expected to be completed by mid-July next year coincides with the date of the 2017 SEA Games which will be held on August 19 to 31.
