MTDC: Business Growth Fund (BGF)




The BGF is designed to bridge the financing gap between the early stage of commercialisation and venture capital financing for high technology companies.  The BGF also functions as a follow-on funding program capable to assist high-growth technology based companies to scale up and expand their business, preferably in the international market.

Target Group
Technology companies with high growth potential.

Eligibility Criteria
Technology-based company with a minimum of 75% Malaysian ownership;

– The company has achieved minimum revenue of RM1.5m and also be profitable in the recent financial year end.

Quantum of Funding
Maximum of up to RM10.0 million

Funding Period
5 years

Funding Instrument
Equity funding via Redeemable Convertible Preference Shares (RCPS)

Web hosting service Exabytes hit by ransomware attack, still restoring services

PETALING JAYA: Exabytes, a Penang-based web hosting service, was hit by a ransomware attack over the weekend, though it claims most of its services have since been restored.

The ransomware, which occurred at 5am on Sept 18, disrupted its services, mainly its Windows VPS (virtual private server) and Windows hosting services.

In a post on 4.23am on Sept 19, the company said it had concluded a management meeting and will initiate its recovery plan immediately.
