M’sian students in UK should consider career in logistics, transportation, says Dr Wee

PETALING JAYA: Malaysian students studying in London should explore career options in the logistics and transportation industry in Malaysia, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The Transport Minister shared this during a “teh tarik session” with Malaysian students at Malaysia Hall in Bayswater, London.

“We exchanged views about the current affairs in our country.

“I also discussed the logistics and transportation industry in Malaysia and its importance in a bid to ensure the sustainable growth of our national economy.

“I encouraged the students to explore career options in these growing sectors.

“They can always call me with questions about this sector, and I’m happy to listen and offer my advice and perspective,” he said in a Facebook post Sunday (Oct 17).

The MCA president also informed the students that the Transport Ministry’s mission to the United Kingdom was to ensure Malaysia continued to be an International Maritime Organisation (IMO) council member, a position that Malaysia has held since the 2006/2007 term.

He also explained to the students how important it was for Malaysia to keep “our voice at the table as a maritime nation.”

IMO, which has its headquarters in London, is a specialised agency under the United Nations.

The agency is responsible for the safety and security of shipping as well as the prevention of marine and atmospheric pollution by ships.
