Efficient, proactive, creative govt delivery system vital to instil confidence among people, says Sabah Yang di-Pertua

KOTA KINABALU: An efficient, proactive and creative delivery system is important to instil confidence among the people during these trying times, says Tun Juhar Mahiruddin .

The Sabah Yang di-Pertua Negeri said in his state-level Maulidur Rasul celebration message that the government’s machinery must ensure that development plans under the state government budget and the 12th Malaysia Plan, are executed well.

“Absorbing the spirit of Rasulullah SAW, we must make sacrifices for the betterment of all. Remember that all successes start from sacrifices, and sacrifices come from the heart sincerely without expecting a return. Insya-Allah this will translate to prosperity for the people and the state,” he said.

Tun Juhar reminded people here to continue defending the spirit of unity here, as he was confident the state is the best model to showcase unity beyond politics, cultures, beliefs and ideologies.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the future of Sabah depends on the ability of the younger generation which will inherit the responsibility of steering the state’s future direction.

“We will continue to empower and strengthen the potential of the youths. This is because the Muslim community’s excellence and progress is not easily achieved, it requires the transformation of the mind and actions, as well as commitment and careful planning,” said Hajiji.

He said that the unity among the diverse communities in Sabah is the state’s strength and must be defended.

Hajiji also said the state government is prioritising handling health and safety challenges effectively, besides managing the economy in a sustainable way.

“A lot has been done and is being carried out by the government to improve employment and business opportunities, as well as diversify the people’s source of income,” said Hajiji.

“Even in Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) plan, economic development of the state and its people have been put as the main agenda of the government at present,” he added.

At the same time, Hajiji expressed hope that the relaxation of inter-district travel which started last Thursday (Oct 14) and the resumption of interstate travel from Nov 1 will expedite the state’s economic recovery.

“We also hope the relaxation will give the people the opportunity to return to their lives, albeit with the new normal of adhering to standard operating procedures,” he said.
