Wednesday, 25 January 2017 : Andy Lau was thrown from a horse on January 17 while filming a commercial in Thailand and has remained in hospital after being flown back to Hong Kong on a medical flight.
His agency issued an official statement on his injury yesterday, stating that he has sustained multiple fractures in his pelvic area, along with tendon and muscle injuries. While it is still too early to determine how long he will require to be nursed back to health, they shared that it is likely that he will be unable to return to work for the rest of the year.
They shared that doctors have advised him to remain hospitalised a maximum of eight weeks and go through nine months of rehabilitation in order to make a complete recovery. They also thanked the public, media, fans and friends for their concern over Andy’s condition, adding that they will provide updates on the Heavenly King’s recovery.
Andy also posted an update on his official fan site, assuring his fans, “I will fully comply with the instructions and recommendations that the medical staff give me. I know that you will hurt as much as I do; I will quietly rest and recover soon!” the message read.
While Andy is recovering from his injury, reports have shared that he has four movies that he has yet to complete filming for – namely, Shock Wave, Find Your Voice, The Adventures and Zhui Long, and his company shared that they will speak to the relevant parties to see if they can find a way to work around Andy’s injury without compromising his ongoing works.
