LANGKAWI: Twenty-eight hectares of paddy land mortgaged by cooperatives in Kedah and Perlis have been successfully redeemed by the Malaysian National Cooperatives Movement (Angkasa) since 2012. The initiative would also be expanded to assist troubled cooperatives in redeeming their mortgaged land.

Angkasa president, Datuk Abdul Fattah Abdullah said the success of the effort, however, depended on allocations by the government. He added that thus far, RM2 million had been allocated to assist the Kedah and Perlis cooperatives to redeem their mortgaged land.
