The Green Connection in the city of Kota Kinabalu is an aquarium and eco-theme park which is the new addition to the tourist attractions here. It was in May 2010 that this unique educational place and conservation center was opened to the public.
The Green Connection features a vast biodiversity of seven ecosystems. It is located at Mile 2.5 off Jalan Tuaran which is near the Wisma Wanita and St. John’s Ambulance.
The Green Connection is the home to more than 1200 species of creatures ranging from the smallest of insects to slimy cold snakes and unique marine life like sharks.
This is a family-friendly conservation center which aims at showcasing the uniqueness of the aquatic biodiversity in Sabah.
The center also aims to promote awareness of the importance of nature and wildlife conservation through a fun and interactive way through educational activities.
The uniqueness of the Green Connection is that it offers the experience of strolling through limestone caves, dense jungles, mangrove area, coral reefs of Sipadan, the Northern Tip of Borneo and Pulau Tiga. All of which are the famous places of interest in Sabah.
Throughout the way into the center, visitors will be accompanied by guides who will answer to your every question. Also part of the highlight is the series of freshwater aquariums which are built after the freshwater habitats such as the Kinabatangan River, the Bornean mangrove area, lake and pond.
A variety of fish and other wildlife that live in these areas can be seen. Do expect to see the catfish, pig-nosed turtle and blade fish.
This indeed is a place to bring your family to. Not only you get to see various creatures here but your kids will have a whale of a time here as well. Sabah has so much to offer.
Do not miss the chance to visiting as many places as you can during your stay. Accommodations in Sabah are aplenty. So do not worry about not having a place to stay.
