Covid-19: 80% of Malaysia’s adult population fully vaccinated, says PM



PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia has fully vaccinated 80% its adult population, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

However, he said that the fight against Covid-19 continues.

"Congratulations! Malaysia has achieved 80% full vaccination of its adult population," he said on Tuesday (Sept 21).

According to the CovidNow website, 79.6% or 18,646,795 of the country's adult population had been vaccinated as of noon on Sept 21.

The website also stated that 93.1% of the adult population or 22,097,565 individuals had received their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine.

Malaysia had initially set the target of fully vaccinating 80% of the country's adult population by October under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.

Students happy, relieved to be vaccinated



PUTRAJAYA: The first group of students who are getting vaccinated under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) for Adolescents here today are excited to receive their first dose and cannot wait to go back to school.

The programme for students aged between 12 and 17 kicked off at SMK Putrajaya Precinct 8, with 323 youths aged 16 and 17.

Form Five student of the school Muhd Ihsan Syafiqin was thankful to receive the first dose of the vaccine.

“I am relieved because after this, I can do daily activities such as sports and go to school with my friends,” he told Bernama.

Haziq Zafri Hiruddin, 17, said teenagers should not be scared of getting vaccinated because vaccines were among the paths out of the pandemic.
