Tabung Haji resolving pilgrims’ visa woes

Friday, 11 August 2017 :  Tabung Haji (TH) is striving to help haj pilgrims stranded following visa delays in their departure to the holy land, said Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.

He said TH was doing its best to resolve the issue and had full support from the Saudi Arabian government.

“This is the first time such an incident had occurred since TH’s 54 years of managing haj pilgrims. However, due to the good ties between the two countries, these cases has been reduced.

“The issue involves the processing of visas by Saudi Arabia, but we are forced to shoulder the responsibility as it involves accommodation costs which increase haj operation costs this year.

“Currently, we have found that in each flight there were names left out in the list of pilgrims who received processed visas from the Saudi Arabia government but the situation is improving and most of the pilgrims have departed to Saudi Arabia,” he told reporters here.
