PONTIAN – Martial arts that became the pride of the Malays must not only be maintained, but was appointed as martial arts to global society such as karate, taekwondo and judo.
This is because according to the Pontian MP, Datuk Ahmad Maslan, Malay silat skills have managed to become one of the popular sports not only in this country but also the region.
“Seni Silat has now developed into a sporting event through martial sport and martial art which is now contested in ASEAN, Asia or even the world,” he said when officiating Tennis Martial Parliament for Pontian, Persatuan Seni Silat I remember in Kampung Puteri Crying, Ayer Baloi.
Construction of the court martial, costing about RM20,000 to the program ‘1Mukim1Gelanggang Silat’ for added convenience to the martial arts.
The effort was also in line with the recommended program ‘1Silat 1Sekolah’ Duty Pontian District since 2013 so that students have a place to practice than in the school building.
Ahmad, who is also Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry said that this year a total of five courts martial have been approved for construction.
He hoped that with better facilities and fully equipped, the younger generation will be interested to learn the art with respect to the guidance of teachers who are experienced martial arts.
