KOTA KINABALU: Police are still hunting for two men who tried to ram into policemen and drove recklessly around the city during a high speed chase on Tuesday (Jan 11) morning.
State Deputy Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun said apart from one woman who was nabbed not long after the incident, no one else has been apprehended as yet.
“Anyone with details of these suspects, please inform us,” he said during a press conference here Wednesday (Jan 12).
Prior to the incident, cops had received a call about a domestic violence case at the Tanjung Aru beach and went to investigate.
Five people were questioned, but three of them decided to flee in one vehicle in the midst of it, prompting a chase by the cops.
It is unclear why the three fled.
Kota Kinabalu OCPD ACP Mohd Zaidi Abdullah said that the driver of the vehicle had tried to ram into policemen when they came to a stop at a traffic light intersection in the city, forcing the officers to shoot at the car tyres.
The suspects, however, managed to escape by abandoning their car in the congested road and fleeing on foot.
In an unrelated incident, police have yet to arrest the main suspect of a stabbing incident in front of an entertainment outlet in Penampang near here, Jan 4.
Jauteh said one person has been brought in to facilitate probes into this case but not the main suspect.
He urged witnesses to inform the police of the suspect’s whereabouts.
One man was killed in this stabbing incident.
