Pandelela, Jun Hoong clinch Malaysia’s first medal in Rio

RIO DE JANEIRO: Malaysia wins the first medal in the Rio Olympic Games after diving pair, Pandelela Rinong and Cheong Jun Hoong won the silver medal at the Maria Lenk Aquatics Centre here today.

The pair contributed Malaysia’s first silver medal in the sport after finishing second in the women’s synchronised 10m platform event. 

Malaysia amassed 344.34 points while China won the gold medal with 354 points and Canada picked the bronze with 336.18 points.

Final results Tuesday in the Olympic women’s 10m synchronised platform diving competition: 

Chen Ruolin/Liu Huixia (CHN), 354.00 points

Cheong Jun Hoong/Pandelela Rinong (MAS), 344.34

Meaghan Benfeito/Roseline Filion (CAN), 336.18

Kim Kuk-Hyang/Kim Mi-Rae (PRK), 322.44

Tonia Couch/Lois Toulson (GBR), 319.44

Paola Espinosa/Alejandra Orozco (MEX), 304.08

 

Amelia Cozad/Jessica Parratto (USA), 301.02

Ingrid Oliveira/Giovanna Perdoso (BRA), 280.98
