KLANG: Selangor PAS will be in a difficult position if the Islamist party is involved in multi-way fights that also include Umno in the upcoming Melaka polls.
Given this, Roslan said PAS was trying very hard to negotiate for straight fights in Melaka.
“If it is going to be straight fights, it won’t be a problem for us to go to Malacca to campaign but if there are three-cornered fights, it will be tough on us.
“We will have to think twice about going as we don’t want to damage our good relationship with Umno in Selangor,” said Roslan, adding his party also had a good relationship with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia in Selangor.
“Muafakat Nasional in Selangor is different from that in other states. Here we are close friends and have many joint events,” he added.
He added Umno’s top leadership had also given its blessing for the party’s Selangor chapter to build close ties with PAS in the state.
Kamaruzzaman said it was crucial for Perikatan Nasional parties to join forces to fight Pakatan Harapan in the polls.
“Things have changed and if there are multi-cornered fights, we won’t be able to win a significant number of seats,” he added.
