Malaysia logs new 89 deaths due to Covid-19, with 19 BID cases

PETALING JAYA: Another 89 deaths due to Covid-19 were recorded on Friday (Oct 15), with 19 being brought-in-dead (BID) cases, according to the latest data from the Health Ministry.

The cumulative death toll due to the virus currently stands at 27,770, of which BID cases make up 5,609 of such deaths, according to the ministry’s CovidNow website.

The fatality rate for the seven-day average in Malaysia due to Covid-19 also now stands at 1%.

On Friday (Oct 15), Malaysia logged 7,420 new cases, bringing the total number of infections to 2,377,033 since the pandemic began early last year.

The new cases reported on Friday (Oct 13) saw the number of infections in Malaysia remaining below the five-figure mark for the 13th consecutive day.

There are now 97,505 active cases, with ICU utilisation currently at 63%, hospital beds at 68.5% and ventilators at 40.9%.

As of Friday (Oct 15), 67.5% of the population, or 22,036,881 people, are fully vaccinated.

The ministry’s projected date for 80% of the population, or a total of 26,125,920 people to be fully vaccinated, is Dec 13.
