POKEMON GO’s explosive growth continues – the popular mobile game surpassed 100 million downloads on Google Play this past weekend.

Pokemon GO also leads the Google Play charts for top free app, meaning that it has been getting more downloads than even Facebook Messenger, YouTube Music and Snapchat.

The new milestone was first reported by Android Police.

Pokemon GO launched just a month ago in the United States, Australia and New Zealand, and has since been gradually brought to additional markets, including much of Europe, Latin America and parts of Asia such as Japan.

The game’s immense popularity has at times resulted in technical issues, and it has also started to impact businesses and other locations that are being frequented by its players.

Some retailers have reported higher sales due to the game, and Pokemon GO maker Niantic Labs has actually partnered with McDonalds in Japan to increase in-store traffic.

However, not everyone has been happy about players chasing after Pokemons.

Last week, a New Jersey man filed a class action lawsuit against Niantic Labs after a number of players asked to be let into his backyard. — Reuters
