SHAH ALAM: Muhammad Habibullah Mohd Saleh won both the races to emerge overall champion of the FIM Asia Supermoto Championship.
In the fourth and final round at the Shah Alam Stadium on Sunday, Habibullah was fastest in Race One after clocking 21:33.60. Richard Dibben of New Zealand was second in 21:34.90 while Malaysian Mohammad Khairi Zakaria clocked 21:41.20 for third place.
In the second race, Habibullah was given a stiff fight before winning in 21:58.10. Dibben again finished second in 21:58.50 while Japanese Yasushi Matsumoto was third in 21:58.80.
The 25-year-old Habibullah, riding for the KTM Malaysia Racing Team, collected 171 points to top the overall standings to earn the US$3,000 (RM13,428) top prize.
Team-mate Andrew McLiesh of Australia was second on 138 points. Khairi was third overall with 123 points.
The earlier three rounds were held in Newcastle (Australia) in September, Malang (Indonesia) in October and Clark (the Philippines) last month. – Bernama
