Former Selangor defender Robert Cornthwaite announced on Thursday that he has signed with A-League’s Western Sydney Wanderers.

According to the Australian side’s announcement, the 30-year old will be joining them on a two-year deal, making his return to Australia for the first time since 2011, when he left Adelaide United for Jeonnam Dragons in South Korea. He then joined Selangor beginning from the 2015 season.

He helped the Red Giants lift their 33rd Malaysia Cup title in 2015, and played for them in the 2016 AFC Cup.

The 30-year old Australian was then axed by the Red Giants early July 2016, and he was then replaced by Nigerian centre back Ugo Ukah.

The Wanderers were the 2014 AFC Champions League winners, and finished the 2015-16 A-League as the regular season and Finals runners up.
