PETALING JAYA: Maybank foresees a 100% increase in the number of its customers using contactless payments by the end of next year, after the launch of Maybank Samsung Pay.
Maybank Group chief strategy officer Michael Foong said that estimation follows the success of Maybank Pay in July this year, which saw about 40,000 installations of the digital wallet to date.
The Maybank Samsung Pay could be used to make purchases almost anywhere that accepts debit, credit and prepaid cards, including overseas.
Maybank had seen a tripling in transaction value of digital wallet payments made via mobile phones in the three-month period from September to November this year.
Maybank believe that the continuous innovations especially in the field of digital wallets, will enable customers to benefit from this safe and secure payment mode.
Maybank cardholders were able to have exclusive access to Samsung Pay during the three-week open beta test until Dec 31.
