Friday, 10 March 2017 : A day after delivering an impassioned speech at the United Nations for International Women’s Day, Hathaway shared the first photo of her son, Jonathan Rosebanks Shulman, watching mom’s remarks by way of a laptop.
The Oscar winner visited the UN on Wednesday to speak about the importance of paid parental leave by explaining how women are “economically punished” for wanting children due to damaging gender roles.
“JRS watching Mommy give her speech at the UN yesterday,” she captioned the photo, adding the hashtags #forourboys #forourgirls #forthefuture #loveislove #parentsareparents.
Hathaway gave birth to her first child with her husband of nearly five years, Adam Shulmam, in March of 2016. The couple began dating around 2008 and tied the knot in September 2012.
In her UN speech, Hathaway noted the struggle many far less wealthy Americans experience after pregnancy due to the United States’ Family and Medical Leave Act, which gives new parents a 12-week period of unpaid maternity leave.
