Wednesday, 26 April 2017 : Olympic champion Adam Peaty will headline a 29-strong team selected to represent Great Britain at the FINA World Championships in Budapest this summer.
He is joined by silver medallists Jazz Carlin and Siobhan-Marie O’Connor, as well as Duncan Scott, Stephen Milne, Chris Walker-Hebborn and James Guy – the latter having won four golds at last week’s British Swimming Championships in Sheffield.
Also featuring in the squad are Olympians Hannah Miley, Ross Murdoch, Max Litchfield and Aimee Willmott, in addition to Georgia Davies and Molly Renshaw.
In a squad of mixed experience on the world stage, many travelling to Hungary will make their senior international debuts following impressive performances at Pond’s Forge last week.
“The selectors were pleased that so many swimmers achieved the qualification or consideration time,” said British Swimming head coach Bill Furniss.
“We set difficult standards but these reflect what we’re trying to do in British Swimming and what is required to be successful. To see so many swimmers achieving these times is very encouraging.
“The high number of records achieved last week didn’t surprise me. If we are to compete on the world stage you have to show continual improvement and that is what we saw at the Championships.
“We’ve already got one eye on Tokyo and therefore we want to introduce that next generation of elite swimmers to world class arenas.
